xfwm4 can't maximize spotify window
Status:
RESOLVED: FIXED

Description Gabriel Potkány 2014-05-18 16:41:27 CEST
Resizing of Spotify 0.9.4.183 window works correctly, but when clicking maximize button xfwm maximizes window only for split of the second, then reverts back to previous size. Works correctly in other window manager (metacity, kwin).
Comment 1 Simon Steinbeiss editbugs 2014-08-05 17:14:15 CEST
Can confirm that, I would assume though that it's the fault of the Spotify app.
Comment 2 Edoardo Maria Elidoro 2014-08-13 00:54:26 CEST
Everything is fine with 0.9.11.27, I guess they fixed the problem.
Comment 3 Simon Steinbeiss editbugs 2014-08-13 11:55:18 CEST
Interesting, I'm using the same version (0.9.11.27.g2b1a638c), still, maximizing doesn't work as expected.

Pretty strange. Maybe I misunderstood the issue, here's two screenshot of my PC, the first one is Spotify not maximized, the second one is Spotify after I clicked on the "+" icon (maximize icon).

You're understanding the issue correctly, however, this simply doesn't work here.

4.10 or 4.11?
Comment 7 Simon Steinbeiss editbugs 2014-08-13 13:06:09 CEST
Right, I'm using Xfwm4 4.11.2.
Comment 8 Gabriel Potkány 2014-08-13 13:08:10 CEST
Still doesn't work and I'm using 4.10

Exact same output here.
Comment 10 Fanfurlio 2014-08-13 19:45:19 CEST
Same issue here, with xfwm4 v4.11.4 and spotify 0.9.11.27
though I'm using a patched version, can be found in AUR as "xfwm4-titleless-dev".

I'll be trying reverting to the "regular" xfwm4 to check if the issue is there too.

I have noticed another thing: the maximize button has that strange split-second flicker, however if I drag the spotify window to the top of the screen, it's being maximized as it should be.
Comment 11 Fanfurlio 2014-08-13 20:01:47 CEST
Same issue with xfm4 v4.10.1, without the drag-to-top part, 4.10 does not have that option AFAIK
Comment 12 Simon Steinbeiss editbugs 2014-12-11 00:13:20 CET
Actually I can confirm that maximizing works now with Spotify 0.9.11.27g2b1a638c and xfwm4 4.11.2 on Xubuntu 15.04 (daily build).

Since I was previously testing with Xubuntu 14.04, it's possible that the bug was related to some component that Spotify is using and that has received a fix meanwhile...
