One has to use 'Ctrl-w' to close windows in the foreground and 'Ctrl-q' to close applications in the foreground in order to reach the other opened windows. The miniatures of the opened windows do not appear at the top of the screen. The floating menu does not appear until we move all windows out of the way before hovering over its location with the mouse.
