Create a new file and a new folder on the desktop. Now drag and drop the file into the folder. The file icon will remain visible and allows further interaction.

xfdesktop 4.11.4 (git/master)

Create a New Folder and New File on Desktop.

Move file into folder, file shows in Folder and on Desktop

Create New File on Desktop - desktop now has 2 files with the same name showing

Move file into folder - this time the file disappears from the desktop, leaving the original apparent file on the desktop

Fix for moving icons into folders on the desktop

This pacth should fix it, GIO changes its signals if there is another file monitor on a folder.

Thanks for testing, pushed to master in: http://git.xfce.org/xfce/xfdesktop/commit/?id=31143fed1e365f3cbc36a3e721853663e2e07d67

Close, but no cigar...

works a treat unless you open the new folder before the drag and drop, in which case the behaviour is as before. viz:

create the two new files and a new folder
open the new folder
drag one of the files in and it leaves a ghost copy on the desktop like before. ugh!

many thanks to Thaddaus for the ppa and Eric for the fix. nice to have a working vol control again and very nearly a working file manager

regards, Ian
