using xffm to give or remove executable permission to a file works but the
colour of the filename does not change to green/black unless i do a reload

imho this is a bug not a feature request

Please explain what you do, i.e., what permisions you change, whether from the
popup window or by directly editing the "mode" field and what are the colors
that should change (from what color to what other color). Without this
additional information we cannot start working on a fix.

here's walkthrough:

- open xffm
- go to a directory of yours where there is a file called test.sh (whatever
right) with permissions rw-r--r--
- either press ctrl+i OR right-click on the file, choose file/properties
- in the permissions tab check the executable box
- press ok

observe how there is no visual confirmation of that the permissions have been
changed even though xffm normally shows executable files in green

Condition fixed in both 4.2 (4.2.2.3) and 4.3 svn branches.
