Directory Menu's setting panel does not save/show the selected directory and the browsing always starts from the user's home. Changing directory name in ..../xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-panel.xml does nothing with this issue (it's overwritten with the user's home path). The only solution (I found) is to change the value in "xfce settings editor".
I can confirm the bug on Xubuntu 13.10.

Filipp, thank you for the patch and sorry for the delay. The patch works and looks OK to me. Pushed to master. We should probably change the default assignee of xfce4-panel bugs - Nick is very busy these days. Small request, can you please attach patches with commit information (made with "git format-patch").

I confirm the bug on Xubuntu 16.04.
I am nearly 100% certain this bug still exists, and thus am reopening it. I wrote a patch for it on June 8th which I might've given to Simon with a bunch of other patches we were discussing at the time for the panel. I will reupload it here shortly, but it might need manual re-basing.

Steve, your patch looks the same as the already applied Filipp's patch. Or am I missing something?
My guess is that Steve was looking at the released version, which at the time of his comment didn't have the fix yet. Closing again.
