It would be super to have the ability to set more than one location the Desktop module looks in for wallpaper images. Pulling them up individually by adding them one at a time is extremely tedious, and is contrary to making the system work simply, IMHO. One should be able to add multiple directories to add to the display of images, and then sort all images by any criteria, such as directory, name, resolution, etc.. These features should be trivial to add to the Desktop module, IMHO. Thank you.
In 4.12 xfdesktop will allow you to select the folder to pull images from rather than having to add them to lists. You can see the basic concept from the on-line documentation: http://docs.xfce.org/xfce/xfdesktop/4.11/usage Doing multiple directories would be more complicated from the new UI layout, but you can always make a directory with symlinks to the images from other folders that you want. Will that be sufficient for your needs?
I am not quite sure about the final product usage, but that sounds very good. I also like the idea of symlinks, but that should be an automated process of Xfce rather than user created. Ideally, the software could be asked to scan for images and allow the user to check a box next to a thumbnail to add that one to the catalog.
I used to be able to select one or two wallpapers on top of the "default" directory, allowing quick comparisons between 2/3 wallpapers I liked, and allowing building lists of wallpapers from different sources. I believe symlinks are not obvious and take more time to do than picking multiple sources, so I would also like for this feature to be added. :-)
Are you suggesting a side-by-side comparison?
