There was a menu item to open DVD from iso image (on Parole 0.2.0.6, see attached screenshot).

Now that item (tried on Parole 0.3.0.3 from xubuntu quantal and 0.5.0 from xubuntu raring) isn't there anymore.

Opening ISO from "open file" doesn't work
Mounting ISO as a loop device and then open parole --device with that loop doesn't work.

How can I play a DVD from an iso file or a video_ts folder?
Maybe ISO support has been removed? But why, since it was already present and working?

Changing version to unspecified since it affects also newer versions...

We're currently working on a rather big transition – moving to Gtk3 – but after that we'll try to re-add that feature.
