Suspend actually works the first time I use it after a reboot, but from then on does nothing.

Thought I should add that my laptop does suspend when I close the lid. Also Whenever I reboot a certain session is reopened, not necessarily the last one I opened, but usually the same one for a while, then it will eventually change to a different session (list of applications) that were open at a certain time.

Should read: Thought I should add that my laptop does suspend when I close the lid. Also, whenever I reboot a certain session is reopened, which is usually not the session I had open when I shut down my computer, but one that was saved a while ago. As this problem has been ongoing, the session that opens will periodically change. I would like for nothing to open on startup except for the programs listed in the sessions and start up manager of xfce4-settings.

I changed the status to resolved (invalid) because I believe this problem is due to locale errors. Additionally, I should have filed it under xfce4-power-manager, assuming such a section exists. Thank you and excuse my mistake as a novice user.
