So, if you will permit a bug report on 4.8, when I insert a LUKS encrypted stick into a USB port, the label of the stick appears on the desktop. You can mount it by double clicking on it. When you dismount the stick and try to mount it again, you get told someone is holding the device open. When you dismount it and remove the stick, the icon stays there. You get the same error If you reinsert the stick, any further attempt to mount the stick gives you: Can't read the super block The is because the device (sdc to sdd) has changed and the icon on the screen never went away when the stick was removed and doesn't know about the new device. I can mount and dismount the stick all I like from a script. (Let me know if you would like a copy of the script.) Many thanks, -T p.s. I do wish you would take into account that those of us on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and its clones can not always run the latest utilities when you roll out a new version of Xfce. We all feel quite neglected. You could solve the problem by compiling on one of RHEL's clones.
Would someone please change "LIKS" in the subject line to "LUKS". Thanks, -T (Stinkin' typos)
I know this was filed against 4.8, but I think it's pretty clear that there's not going to a fix forthcoming - perhaps you'll have better luck with the distribution on getting a fix. I just tested and confirmed this to be a "WORKSFORME" in 4.10.x, so unless there's objection from Eric, I'll probably close this one on my next pass through.
WFM in 4.10.x
Ye-old-out-of-date (RHEL 6.x and clones) only supports Xfce up to 4.8. Can you fix it in 4.8 also?
I won't claim to speak for Xfce, but it's a small project with very limited development resources, and I'm almost certain that none of the developers working on it are running 4.8 (nor do they have any interest in doing so). You're more likely to get results on this by filing a bug with RH and hoping someone else will have enough interest and skill to fix it.
