One notices the "Applications Menu" tab is just as wide as the other tabs to the right of it. Well it should be at most half width, to distinguish it from the user generated tabs.
Can you provide a screenshot so I can better understand what you'd like to have changed? Thank you.

FYI, I'm moving this to the applications menu of the xfce4-panel.
What would you expect there? Ellipsizing at an arbitrary width? If you give the appmenu such a long title it'll be so wide. You can either rename the label or entirely disable it if you want a less wide applications menu button.
