With version 1.2.0 of the plug-in used in a vertical panel, the text above the statistics bars is wrongly displayed vertically while the bars are horizontal. Moving the plug-in into an horizontal panel makes the text horizontal, hence my guess that the text is following the panel's orientation (which is wrong IMHO). Version 1.1.0 showed horizontal text in a vertical panel. This is with : Xfce v4.10 Glib-2.32.1 GTK+-2.24.10 ps : I said GIT version in the report because the only changes so far from tag 1.2.0 are strings translations... thanks, Seb.
CCed Mike Massonnet since the "official" plugin maintainer said in a mail to the devs list that he wouldn't have much time to dedicate to Xfce in the near future... Hope you won't mind... Thanks you for your help, Séb.
Switch panel mode from "Vertical" to "Deskbar". Orientation of labels is controlled (as of Xfce 4.10) by the panel mode.
(In reply to comment #2) Switching to "Deskbar" did fix the orientation issue for the netload plugin. ... But now this is the desktop switcher which is oriented incorrectly : rows are displayed as columns and vice versa :-( Any other clue ?
I don't see this issue here. libwnck <2.31 is known to distort aspect ratio of workspaces in the deskbar mode (please upgrade libwnck and recompile xfce4-panel if that's what you are seeing) but this issue should not affect row/columns behavior. If you are seeing a bug in the workspace switcher/pager please file a separate bug report. To me, it looks like netload plugin works just fine.
(In reply to comment #4) fair enough. I agree that there's no bug in netload plugin. I upgraded libwnck to v2.31 and recompiled xfce4-panel and now the workspace switcher works correctly. I guess you can close as "not a bug" since my troubles were caused by wrong setting and external dependency. Thanks a lot for your support!
text orientation is a taste-colour topic we have for the following panel orientations: - horizontal: text oriented horizontally - vertical: text oriented vertically - deskbar: text oridented horizontally i'm into changing this. good it's fixed too for you, simple issue closed :)
