Created attachment 4660 My broken Display.xml Hi, I have a 3 Monitor Layout based on a Nvidia Card with Kepler chipset. My Layout looks as follow: HDMI-0 (1680x) | DVI-D (1680x) | DVI-I (1024x) It's possible do apply these settings in nvidia-settings dialog and store it to xorg.conf. Everything works. But from the moment on I opened the xfce4-display-settings dialog on a reboot the setting doesn't work any longer. The layout looks as following: HDMI-0 | | DVI-D (1680x)| nothing (1680x) | DVI-I (1024x) so the HDMI-0 and DVI-D gets overlapped. Furthermore may Keyboard bindings from xfce4-keyboard-settings doesn't work anylonger. At least my panels, I have one on every Monitor showing only local windows in Window-Buttons-Applet gets confused. It is possible to re-arrange display by using xrandr, but shortcuts still don't work also panel-applets are confused. Once I deleted the xfce4-display-settings file (display.xml) in .config/... and doing a logout/login everything worked again as a charm. In my opinion it looks like the position values of the DVI-D Display gets not parsed rightfully, because the .xml file looks good: regards, gnux
Sry, I just retested it now and it works suddenly. But I figured out what the problem was: If you change your display settings via nvidia-settings and store it into xorg.conf do make them permanent then the xfce display-manager will not recognize it and will override it with his stored settings... In my case the were really old. May there is a way that the display-manager will update his settings on session end, and or session start? Because opening the display-manager and/or deleting the display.xml everytime you change your screen layout via nvidia-settings, would't be appropriate. regards, gnux Ps.: btw. I just switched from LXDE to XFCE... I didn't like the older releases I tried long time ago, but the new release seems to be AWESOME! Keep up the good work!
Glad this is working for you. Good news is that with xfce4-settings 4.11.3, multi-monitor configuration is substantially easier. Marking as FIXED.
