Build Identifier:

In the recent systems (like RHEL 5) xscreensaver package is not present in favor of gnome-screensaver. Attached small enhancement patch allows to use gnome-screensaver if xscreensaver is not available.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. If you have xscreensaver installed, remove it from system.
2. Try to lock screen using lock button on panel.

Actual Results:
No screensaver running.

Expected Results:
Use one of other available in system screensaver mechanism and do not lock only if none of known choises available.

Only one bit is missing from this patch: support of calling gnome-screensaver-preferences from mcs screensaver plugin.
