Thunar shows "?" instead of Polish characters like "ś,ó", but only on the desktop, in other places everything is fine. When i type ctrl+r characters are back.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Run Xfdesktop with Thunar support in Polish language
2. See broken characters
3. type ctrl+r

Thunar.

Thunar special icons (trash, file system) showed by xfdesktop. Other icons on xfdesktop works fine, only thoose that depend on Thunar have this problem.

So, it's xfdesktop, because Thunar has nothing to do with the special desktop icons.

The 'Trash' and 'File System' icons are just reading ThunarVfsInfo::display_name for their names. See xfdesktop/src/xfdesktop-special-file-icon.c:252. At any rate, we already have a bug for this.
