battery icon sizes and positions

I'm using xubuntu 15.04 amd64 and xfce4-power-manager is in version 1.4.3-0ubuntu1. XFCE is version 4.12

I have a vertical panel only setup to save vertical real estate (small screen). With a vertical panel the row size is often 40pixels or more to accommodate launchers and e.g. whisker menu.

Setup 1:
Row size of 40 and 1 row. The battery icon is too big (screenshot left side)

Setup 2:
Row size of 20 and 2 rows: the battery icon has the correct size but does not sort well with other icons (screenshot right side). Increasing the row size lets the battery icon grow with it, so it is not possible to have 2 icons next to each other.
