Created attachment 5677 Screenshot of display ID badges (Previously posted to community forums, but mistakenly so). Good morning, Apologies if this is posted in the wrong section. I have not contributed to this community before. As a whole, XFCE is a pleasing WM to use. I do however find multi-monitor configuration to be confusing and have a suggestion for a small improvement that would come a long way to make it less so. Version: XFCE 4.10, distributed with Xubuntu 14.04 LTS amd64 In my awkward scenario, I have 3 displays. Two of them have the same EDID identifier (Acer 22") while the other is different (Lenovo 21"). The issue is that, using the Display panel, it is very difficult for me to detect which monitor I am configuring when adjusting the position setting (i.e. Right of / Left of). When I use the "Identify Display" button, I am not helped much either as the badges identify monitors primarily by their label and does not distinguish ones that happen to have the same. A poorly made illustration (attached) demonstrates this. My request: If in a multiple monitor configuration with identical displays, append a numeric index to the label of the display when it is presented in the "Identify Display" badge and the Display menu's context (the left list-bar and the positional selector). This will make it more clear which display you are re-positioning. For example: Acer 22" (0), Lenovo 21", Acer 22"(1) Ideally, I would prefer a guided drag-and-drop panel a la ArandR but my request--while sparse--is plenty sufficient. I understand there are other display configuration applets, but I prefer to keep away from having more than one of them.
This is part of XFCE 4.11. Thank you, and apologies for the unnecessary request.
