Created attachment 5006 Patch file This feature is good for the trim on save as usually an user do not want the line that they are currently selecting to be trimmed. This patch amends the functionality of the menu item as well (clicking on the menu will not strip the current line as well). We might want to change this behaviour.
The patch works nicely, but as an user, I want and expect to always strip the trailing spaces of all lines. At least I'm used to this behavior in Geany and Notepad++ Just my 2 cents.
Now I see that this bug is useful to use along with the feature proposed in bug 10015. But when I use the option "Text -> Convert -> Strip Trailing Spaces", I expect it to remove all trailing spaces, even of the current line. Maybe only when saving, the space of the current line could be spared.
