Configuration to hide category on Application Finder, only show application list
No need, just move the slider all the way to the left. That doesn't work for you?

Now I notice that there is an extra border on the left side of the application list and this is now annoying me :) Besides that, this seems not easily discoverable, so I introduced a preference to hide categories.
