The tray icon in orage disappears when the date changes. The only way to get it back is close and restart the application. Other than that clicking on the now blank space in the try still brings up the calendar or the menu,

Can you, please, show
$ orage -v

What happans if you changed icon visible and non visible in settings?
(Edit->Preferences->Display settings->Show in systray)

What happens is you change icon to be basic icon?
(Edit->Preferences->Extra settings->Use dynamic icon)

As the icon works, it seems to be in the tray; it just is not visible. I wonder if this is due to the icon handling code in panel. Have you tried / Can you try with Gnome panel?

I set it to static icon and will check to see if it has the same problem. I noticed that when it is in dynamic if you switch it a few times from dynamic to static it will re appear.

Sorry, I don't have running Gnome installed I do, but it won't run on my hardware. This is on an F16 Xfce 4.8 box.

This is orage version 4.8.3

	Released under the terms of the GNU General Public License.
	Compiled against GTK+-2.24.8, using GTK+-2.24.8.
	Using DBUS for import.
	Using libnotify.
	Using automatic archiving.
	Using operating system package libical.

OK, it only does it with the dynamic icon. I tried the static icon and it did not disappear when the clock rolled over.

Now it will do it almost consistently with both the static and dynamic icons.

In order to bring it back you need to close out and restart or select the dynamic icon option a few times and the icon will come back. But it will stay invisible until you do bring it back.

The latest update to xfdesktop seems to have fixed this somehow. I installed it and rebooted a few days ago and this event has not occured. Still under investigation I'll give it a few more days without event to know for sure.

Thanks.

I can't understand what xfdesktop has to do with tray icons.
But I am pretty sure that something outside Orage is causing this.

Did you upgrade any otehr components than xfdesktop?
